Recognizing The Wall That Separate Us

Have you ever built a wall between yourself and another person? Perhaps someone hurt you, and you decided to keep your distance to avoid being hurt again.

Although these walls may offer temporary protection, they can prevent us from experiencing the joy of restored relationships.

But the most serious wall is not the one between us and another person. It is the wall that sin creates between us and God.

No amount of religious activity, good deeds, or personal effort can erase our sin. We naturally want to fix our own problems. We want to prove ourselves worthy and believe that doing better will make everything right. But our sin is a problem we cannot solve on our own.

Thankfully, God did not leave us without hope. He sent Jesus Christ to do what we could never do for ourselves. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus made a way for us to be forgiven and reconciled to God.

Recognizing our sin should lead us to recognize our need for God's grace. When we stop pretending we have everything under control, we begin to understand how wonderful His mercy truly is.

Scripture:
Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Application:
  • Ask God to reveal any sin, pride, or resentment that is keeping you from Him.
  • Confess what He brings to your attention and thank Him for the forgiveness offered through Jesus.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, reveal the walls I have built through sin, pride, and fear. Forgive me for relying on myself instead of trusting You. Thank You for sending Jesus to make reconciliation possible. Help me to live each day in gratitude for what Christ has done.
