The Spirit Who Changes Us
It’s one thing to
know the Holy Spirit is present. It’s another to recognize what He’s doing. Scripture makes it
clear that the Spirit isn’t passive. He is active in shaping your life. He
convicts, guides, teaches, and slowly changes you from the inside out. That
change isn’t instant, and it’s not always obvious day to day. But over time, it
becomes clear.
You start to care
about things you didn’t care about before. Sin that once felt normal begins to
bother you. You find yourself wanting to respond differently, even if you don’t
always succeed. That’s not just personal growth; it’s the Spirit at work.
Still, there’s
tension here. You can resist Him. You can ignore His prompting. Scripture even
says He can be grieved. That means your response matters.
Growth in the
Christian life isn’t about trying harder on your own. It’s about learning to
yield, to stop fighting for control and start trusting the Spirit’s leading.
That can feel uncomfortable. It means letting go of habits, attitudes, or plans
you’ve held onto tightly.
But the direction He
leads is always toward life, toward Christlikeness, toward something better
than what we would choose on our own.
Scripture:
2 Corinthians 3:18 - “But we all, with unveiled face, looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.”
Application:
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, I don’t want to resist You. Show me where I’ve been ignoring Your leading. Give me the courage to respond when You prompt me, and help me trust that Your way is better than mine.
2 Corinthians 3:18 - “But we all, with unveiled face, looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.”
- Pay attention today to any sense of conviction or prompting. Don’t brush it off.
- Ask, “What is the Spirit leading me to do right now?”
- Take one small step of obedience, even if it feels uncomfortable.
