Rescued for New Life
God did not rescue us
simply to remove us from danger. He rescued us to give us a new life.
When Christ changes
us, our lives begin moving in a new direction. New life should produce a new
way of living.
Before Christ, we
walked according to the ways of the world. Our lifestyle was shaped by values
that were opposed to God. But when Jesus gives us new life, we begin to walk
differently.
This does not mean
that Christians become perfect overnight. Following Jesus is a process. We
still struggle. We still stumble. We still have moments when old desires and
habits try to pull us backward. But there should be a new direction.
Perhaps there is an
area of your life where you know God is calling you to walk differently. Do not
become discouraged because you are not yet where you want to be. Instead,
remember where you were. You were dead. Now you are alive.
And because you are
alive in Christ, you can take another step today.
Scripture:
Romans 6:4 - Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
Application:
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for giving me new life. Help me remember that salvation is not simply about what You saved me from but also about the life You have called me to live. Give me strength to walk in obedience. Let my life reflect the newness You have created in me.
Romans 6:4 - Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
- Identify one area where God is calling you to live differently.
- Take one specific step of obedience in that area today.
- Before making an important decision, ask: “Does this reflect the new life Christ has given me?”
Jesus, thank You for giving me new life. Help me remember that salvation is not simply about what You saved me from but also about the life You have called me to live. Give me strength to walk in obedience. Let my life reflect the newness You have created in me.
