Faith Means Trusting Jesus

There is a difference between knowing something is true and trusting it. You can believe an airplane can fly across the country, but that belief becomes personal when you board the plane and trust it to carry you safely.

The same principle applies to faith in Jesus Christ.

Many people know the facts about Jesus. They know He died on the cross and rose again. They may attend church regularly and understand the teachings of Scripture. But knowing about Jesus is not the same as personally trusting Him.

Ephesians 2:8 tells us that we are saved by grace through faith. Saving faith means placing our confidence completely in Jesus Christ and trusting His death and resurrection as the only means of our salvation. It means recognizing that we cannot save ourselves.

Sometimes we struggle with faith because we want to depend on our own abilities. We trust our plans, our understanding, or our good behavior instead of relying fully on Christ. But genuine faith requires surrendering our confidence in ourselves and placing it in Him.

Romans 10:9 reminds us that salvation involves confessing Jesus as Lord and believing that God raised Him from the dead.

And genuine faith produces evidence in our lives.
James 2:17 teaches that faith without works is dead. Good works do not earn salvation, but they demonstrate that our faith is real.

Faith is not simply something we claim to possess. It should influence how we live, the decisions we make, and the way we respond to God.

Scripture:
Romans 10:9 -
“If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved”

Application:
  • Identify one area where you struggle to trust God.
  • Take one step of obedience that demonstrates your faith in Him.

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for providing salvation through Your death and resurrection. Help me trust You completely rather than depending on my own understanding. Strengthen my faith and help me demonstrate that trust through obedience.
