The Mission Is Clear

Jesus was clear when He gave His final instructions to His disciples. In Matthew 28:18–20, He clearly commands His followers to go and make disciples of all nations. This was not presented as a suggestion or a special calling for a select few, it is the defining mission of every believer. From the beginning, God’s plan has always involved His people participating in His redemptive work in the world.

It is easy to agree with the mission in theory while avoiding it in practice. Fear, busyness, or feelings of inadequacy often keep us from stepping into obedience. We may assume that sharing our faith is reserved for pastors or missionaries, but Scripture teaches otherwise. Ephesians 4 reminds us that church leaders equip believers for the work of ministry.

Living out this mission is essential because it aligns our lives with God’s purposes. The mission gives direction to our lives, reminding us that we are part of something far greater than ourselves. God has invited us into His work, not because He needs us, but because He desires to use us.

Matthew 28:18-20 - And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Application:

• Identify one person in your life who does not know Jesus.
• Pray specifically for an opportunity to share your faith with them.
• Take one small step toward that conversation.

 
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for making Your mission clear. Help me move beyond simply agreeing with it to actively living it out. Give me courage to share my faith and a heart that reflects Your love for others. Use my life for Your purposes.
