The Mission Is Both Local and Global

In Acts 1:8, Jesus describes the scope of the mission as expanding outward from Jerusalem to Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. This progression shows that mission begins where we are but does not end there. God’s heart has always been for all people, and He calls His followers to reflect that same vision.

Some believers focus only on their immediate surroundings, while others think mission only matters in distant places. But Jesus calls us to both. Our neighborhoods, workplaces, and daily routines are our “Jerusalem”. That is the starting point of our mission. At the same time, we are invited to participate in God’s global work through prayer, giving, and going.

The challenge is recognizing that every interaction matters. It is easy to overlook the significance of everyday moments, but God uses ordinary encounters to accomplish extraordinary purposes. When we begin to see our lives as part of His mission field, our perspective changes.

Living with this awareness transforms how we approach each day. We become more attentive, more compassionate, and more intentional. We begin to see people not as interruptions, but as opportunities.

Acts 1:8 - But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."

• Identify one way to serve someone in your immediate environment this week.
• Pray for a specific country or global mission effort.
• Consider how you can support missions beyond your local context.

Prayer:
God, open my eyes to the mission field around me. Help me to see both the needs nearby and those across the world. Give me a heart that reflects Your love for all people.
