The Mission Flows From Jesus
At the heart of the
Christian mission is not a program or strategy, but a person, Jesus Christ. In
John 15:5, Jesus describes Himself as the vine and His followers as the
branches. This imagery highlights a crucial truth: apart from Him, we can do
nothing.
We often struggle
with trying to live out our faith through our own effort. This often leads to
burnout, frustration, or spiritual dryness. The problem is not a lack of
effort, but a lack of connection. When we remain rooted in Christ, His life
flows through us, producing fruit naturally.
This truth is both
freeing and convicting. It frees us from the pressure of trying to accomplish
God’s work on our own. At the same time, it challenges us to examine our
relationship with Him. Are we abiding in Him daily, or are we trying to operate
independently?
Our role is not to
manufacture results, but to remain faithful and connected. As we do, God works
through us in ways we could never accomplish alone.
Scripture:
John 15:5 - “I am the vine, you are the branches; the one who remains in Me and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.”

Application:
- Identify anything that is distracting you from staying connected to Jesus.
- Practice being aware of His presence throughout your day.
Prayer:
Jesus, help me remain connected to You. Teach me to rely on Your strength rather than my own. Produce fruit in my life as I abide in You.
