Trusting God's Provision
Psalm 23 pictures the Shepherd leading His sheep to
"green pastures" and that word choice matters. God doesn't just
provide something; He provides what's actually good for us, what nourishes and
sustains. Sheep can't tell the difference between safe food and harmful food on
their own. They need the shepherd to lead them there.
We're not so different. Plenty of things in life look
good on the surface but leave us empty, or worse. Left to our own judgment, we
chase what seems good instead of what truly is good. Trusting God's provision
means believing He actually knows what we need better than we do.
Scripture often talks about God's Word the way you'd talk
about food. Jeremiah describes "eating" God's words; the psalmist
calls them sweeter than honey. The more consistently we take in truth from Him,
the more it reshapes what we want and strengthens what we believe.
But trust always costs something. It means loosening our
grip on control and following where He leads, even when the path doesn't make
sense yet. And when we actually trust Him, we find His provision was enough all
along.
Scripture:
Jeremiah 15:16 - Your words were found and I ate them, and Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart.
Application:
· Read a passage of Scripture slowly, without rushing.
· Write
down one verse that stands out.
· Think
through how it speaks to what you're facing right now.
Prayer:
God, thank You for providing everything I need. Help me trust Your guidance instead of leaning on my own understanding. Teach me to find joy in Your Word and to depend on it every day.
