Drinking from Living Water
Sheep need water to survive, and so do we, spiritually
speaking. But like sheep, we often reach for what's familiar instead of what's
actually life-giving. Instead of turning to God, we look for comfort in
distractions: entertainment, social media, whatever numbs us for a while. Those
things might feel calming in the moment, but they were never going to satisfy
what's actually going on underneath.
Jesus offers something entirely different. In John 7, He
invites anyone who's thirsty to come and drink from Him. This isn't a quick fix,
it's a source of renewal that never runs dry.
God's peace doesn't depend on our circumstances lining
up. Philippians 4 promises that when we bring our worries to Him honestly, His
peace stands guard over our hearts and minds.
Choosing living water means actually turning toward God
instead of settling for lesser substitutes. It starts with admitting we need
Him and then responding when He calls.
Scripture:
John 7:37–38 - If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'
Philippians 4:6-7 - Be anxious for
nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let
your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all
comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Application:
· Swap one distracting habit today for time in prayer.
· Thank
Him for the peace He offers.
Prayer:
Jesus, draw me back to You, the source of living water. Fill my heart with Your peace, and help me trust You fully.
