When You Lose Things You Thought You Needed
Let’s be honest, sometimes
the hardest part of a storm isn’t the storm itself. It’s what it takes from
you.
Plans fall apart.
Stability disappears. Things you counted on suddenly aren’t there anymore. And
it’s natural to grieve that.
But storms have a way
of revealing where we’ve been placing our security. Not in a condemning way, but
in a clarifying way.
God never promised to
protect every part of our comfort. But He does promise to hold onto us.
Sometimes things fall apart so we can realize what’s been holding us together all along. That doesn’t make loss easy, but it does mean it’s not meaningless.
Scripture:
Romans 8:28-29 - And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren
Application:
Prayer:
God, I don’t like losing things that matter to me. But I trust that You’re still good, even here. Help me hold onto You more than anything else.

- Think about something you’re afraid to lose (or already have).
- Be honest with God about it.
- Surrender it to Him, even if it’s hard.
