Investing in Others

One of the clearest marks of an effective Christ-follower is the willingness to invest in someone else’s spiritual growth. Christianity has never been a solo journey. From the beginning, Jesus called disciples, walked with them, taught them, corrected them, and sent them out. He did not simply preach to crowds; He poured Himself into a few so they could impact many.

Our scripture passage for today reveals a chain of discipleship—Paul to Timothy, Timothy to faithful people, and those people to others. True Christianity multiplies.

Yet many of us struggle here. We may feel unqualified, too busy, or unsure of what we have to offer. Sometimes we assume discipleship is only for pastors or ministry leaders. But every believer has something to pass on: encouragement, wisdom gained through failure, lessons from Scripture, or simply a faithful example.

Investing in others matters because spiritual growth rarely happens in isolation. We need people who challenge us, pray for us, and walk with us. And others need the same from us. When we disciple and encourage others, we reflect the heart of Christ, who came not to be served but to serve.

If the world sees Christians competing for attention instead of lifting others up, we distort the gospel. But when we intentionally build others up, we show the heart of Jesus.

Scripture:
2 Timothy 2:2 - The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

Application:
Identify one person you can intentionally encourage this week. Reach out to them to pray together or discuss a passage of Scripture. Ask God to show you how to help them take one next step in their faith.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for the people who have invested in my life. Show me who I can encourage and disciple. Give me courage to step into someone else’s journey and humility to learn as I lead. Help me reflect Jesus by building others up.
