Living with Generosity
When famine struck
Judea, the believers in Antioch immediately responded by sending help (Acts
11:27–30). No one had to persuade them; generosity flowed naturally from hearts
touched by grace. Each person gave according to their ability, and their offering
became a tangible expression of love and unity within the early church.
True generosity is
not about wealth—it’s about willingness. The grace of God softens our hearts
and shifts our perspective from “What do I have to lose?” to “What can I give
to bless others?”
Barnabas modeled this
spirit from the very beginning when he sold a piece of land to meet the needs
of the church (Acts 4:36–37). His giving was both practical and spiritual—it
built trust, met needs, and encouraged others to do the same. When we give with
open hands, God multiplies the impact in ways we can’t imagine.
Scripture:
2 Corinthians 9:7 - Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
Application:
Ask God to show you one tangible way you can give this week—time, resources, or encouragement. Give joyfully, trusting that God will use it to meet a need.
Prayer:
Gracious Father, thank You for every good gift You’ve placed in my life. Teach me to be generous like Barnabas, giving not out of obligation but out of love. Use my generosity to strengthen others and glorify You. Amen.
