God Allows Persecution
We love stories with
surprise endings, but rarely do we appreciate them when we’re living through
them. When life brings persecution, hardship, or confusion, we often ask, “Why
is this happening?” Yet, as the early believers discovered, God sometimes allows
His people to walk through persecution so that His greater purpose can be
revealed.
In 2 Timothy 3:12,
Paul reminds us, “Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will
be persecuted.” The truth is, following Jesus has always involved
opposition. It’s not because God is indifferent, but because our faith shines
most brightly when tested in the fire.
Jesus Himself told
His followers to expect such trials. He said in John 15:18, “If the world
hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you.” When we face resistance for doing right, we
share in the sufferings of Jesus. This not only deepens our faith but also
allows us to be witnesses to the watching world.
Remember: persecution
never means abandonment. God is still writing your story — even the painful
chapters.
Scripture:
1 Peter 4:12-13 - Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation.
Application:
When you face opposition or discouragement for your faith, pause and thank God for the opportunity to trust Him more deeply. What is one area where you can respond to adversity with grace this week.
Prayer:
Father, when life feels unfair or when I face rejection for following You, help me to remember that You are still sovereign. Teach me to see persecution not as punishment, but as a platform for Your glory. Strengthen my heart to endure with joy and faith.
